Noble Suffering
Discomfort now, but peace later,
Not unbearable but bearable,
The signs of noble suffering,
The suffering for a noble cause,
Comfort now, but pain later,
Bearable or non-bearable, as per the magnitude of comfort,
The ignoble suffering,
The suffering for an ignoble cause,
Once, the overcoming of all noble suffering,
Entrance to Nibbāna,
Once, the end of all ignoble happiness or comfort,
Entrance to hell,
Discomforts like discipline, restraint, meditation practice and precepts,
Or in short discomforts in sīla, samādhi and paññā,
The discomforts of virtue, concentration and wisdom,
Precepts the first stage, an entrance to the noble path,
Precepts like no killing even when for a farmer the case of insecticides or pesticides,
Precepts like abstention from drug abuse,
Percepts like no lying, when danger to even life,
Precepts like no stealing, when danger to even life,
Precepts like sexual misconduct,
Precepts like eating once a day...
